TikulaTech Foundation Zambia at the 2025 Lusaka Internet Meet-Up | Youth Innovation & Digital Governance

Last week, TikulaTech Foundation Zambia proudly joined national and international leaders at the 2025 Lusaka Internet Meet-Up, where the conversation centered on how technology, youth innovation, and collaboration can accelerate Zambia’s digital transformation.

Held at M'kango Golfview Hotel in Lusaka on 6th November 2025, the event was organized by Bloggers of Zambia with support from the Swedish Embassy, European Union, and British High Commission. Themed around “Advancing Zambia’s Digital Future,” the meet-up brought together government leaders, diplomats, development partners, and the private sector to discuss the future of connectivity, inclusion, and innovation.

TikulaTech Foundation hosted a special session titled “Enabling Citizen-Centered Digital Governance through Youth Innovation and Technology,” where our speakers Arlene Mactribouy, Musonda Malupande, and Thelma Kangozhi shared insights on how youth-driven innovation can complement government efforts in promoting accessibility, engagement, and transparency. Throughout the session, our team reinforced the event’s central message that building a connected and inclusive Zambia requires close collaboration between government, private sector, and youth innovators. At TikulaTech, we remain committed to designing accessible, secure, and data-efficient technologies that empower citizens and strengthen public digital infrastructure.

During the discussions, Swedish Ambassador Johan Hallenborg highlighted that a third of the world’s population still lacks internet access, stressing the shared responsibility to maintain a safe and trusted digital space. He noted that the internet drives economic growth, enhances digital skills, creates jobs, and supports sectors like education. Karolina Stasiak, EU Head of Delegation, emphasized that data protection frameworks safeguard human rights, while British High Commissioner Rebecca Terzeon reinforced the need for digital regulations that protect freedom of expression, promote media freedom, and strengthen digital literacy.

Adding a national perspective, Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu, PhD reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing AI innovations that localize Zambian languages, while Sonny Zulu, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia, highlighted the importance of financial inclusion, digital literacy, and the urgent need for a Digital ID to improve service access and efficiency.
